Job summary

BrightView Landscapes in Norristown, PA is seeking a Crew Leader for Tree Care to supervise daily operations, ensure safety, and deliver high-quality pruning, cabling, and removals. You will guide crew members, manage equipment, and uphold safety standards.

CDL-B preferred with supervisory experience; bilingual Spanish is a plus. This role offers hands-on leadership in a fast-paced outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in tree care services.
• Experience supervising a crew and coordinating with customers.
• CDL Class B license required or obtainable.
• Ability to become EHAP, First-Aid, and CPR certified.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the tree care service activities of the crew.
• Ensure crew members have the required safety materials, training, and are operating safely at all times.
• Ensure that the work areas beneath and around the trees are clear and properly marked to protect the public from falling debris.
• Inspect and maintain climbing gear and tree care equipment to ensure all equipment and tools are safe and in proper working condition.
• Review and manage crew schedules.
• Complete daily pre-trip inspection reports before dispatch for all Class B equipment.
• Coordinate with branch management, customers, and employees.
• Safely operate tree & landscaping tools, as well as heavy equipment, as needed.
• Utilize proper pruning techniques; assist with trimming trees, clearing, and chipping tree debris, ensuring proper disposal.

Education And Experience

• Familiarity with the techniques and equipment used in landscaping
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class B
• Experience managing a crew consisting of climbers and grounds men or related services
• Supervisory experience
• Ability to become certified in EHAP, First‑Aid, and CPR
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast‑paced environment
• Strong work ethic
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual (Spanish)

Physical Demands/Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day

Work Environment

• Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic
• Work near or about natural bodies of water
• Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
• Requires protective clothing and personal devices: Eye protection, safety vest, gloves, hard hat, earplugs, long‑sleeved shirts, and work boots.
