Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services, administered through Apis Services, Inc., seeks a dedicated supervisor to lead a treatment unit in Morgantown, PA. You will supervise staff, ensure policy adherence, and support youth toward growth and independence. Training provided; no experience required for many positions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services field and one-year experience in residential treatment is preferred, OR
• Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university and three years’ work experience with children.
• Supervisory experience is also preferred.
• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Ability to pass ORR background check with a review that goes back 7 years.
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain employee schedules ensuring adequate coverage for safety.
• Develop and implement systems to organize and monitor work.
• Structure, implement, and facilitate new employee on-the-job orientation.
• Conduct supervisory conferences and evaluations with documentation and provide feedback.
• Schedule training to meet mandatory requirements.
• Provide ongoing supervision to unit staff and monitor case management.
• Guide, mentor, and supervise youth and employees.
• Interacts with and supervises clients during daily activities.
• Maintains regular communication with supervisors and co-workers.
• Provide facility security including headcounts and room checks.
• Utilize crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
• Follow safety protocols related to self-harm, aggression, and behavioral escalation.
• Reports safety concerns, incidents, or changes in client status to leadership.
• Participates in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required training.
• Supports family engagement as directed by the treatment team.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will manage and direct the activities of a specific treatment unit, including providing supervision to staff assigned to the unit. You will ensure that all Abraxas policies and procedures are followed. You will serve as the primary role model for employees by leading, directing, guiding, and supporting them in such a way that promotes their growth and development.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Maintain employee schedules that provide adequate coverage to ensure safety for both clients and employees.


• Develop and implement systems to organize and monitor work activities.


• Structure, implement, and facilitate new employee on-the-job orientation.


• Conduct effective supervisory conferences and performance evaluations with employees, document the content of such meetings and evaluations, and provide feedback to them.


• Schedule employee training to ensure that all mandatory training requirements are met.


• Provide ongoing effective supervision to unit employees and monitor case management activities.


• Guide, mentor, and supervise youth and employees effectively.


• Interacts with and supervises clients during daily activities in a manner that ensures their safety and security.


• Maintains regular communication with supervisors and co-workers.


• Provides effective facility security including conducting headcounts, room checks and observing client movement.


• Utilize approved crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.


• Follows all safety protocols related to self-harm, aggression, and behavioral escalation.


• Reports safety concerns, incidents, or changes in client status immediately to supervisory/leadership staff.


• Participates in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required training.


• Supports family engagement as directed by the treatment team.

• Associate’s degree or (sixty) 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university and three (3) years’ work experience with children.


• Supervisory experience is also preferred.

Other Qualifications:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age


• Ability to pass ORR background check with a review that goes back 7 years.


• Must have a valid Driver's License


• Valid registered vehicle insurance.


• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.


• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.


• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.


• Non-communicable diseases physical exam.

Schedule

• Shift: Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday


• 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM or


• 1:00 PM - 11:00 PM


• Must be available to work weekends!

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and remain active and engaged throughout an 8-hour residential shift


• Ability to work in a secure, controlled-access residential facility environment


• Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to safety emergencies
