Job summary

Charterhouse School seeks a dedicated professional to provide support and case management to its students and families. You will identify behavioral goals in collaboration with the student, family, school team, and other service providers, and lead the school-wide effort to build a safe academic space.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in social work or related field.
  • Two to three years of youth/family experience preferred.
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationships with families, guardians, social workers, and referral sources.
  • Refer students and families to community resources as needed.
  • Coach staff in applying best practices school-wide.
  • Maintain high visibility during school hours to support safety and caring.

Summary

Provide support and case management to Charterhouse School students and their families. Identify behavioral goals in collaboration with the student, family, school team, and other service providers. Lead the school-wide effort to build and maintain a safe academic space. Manage the school's response to challenging behaviors to insure collaborative, restorative practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans incorporating behavioral IEP goals, lagging skills as defined by the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) model, and/or other identified socioemotional and mental health needs.
  • Complete appropriate assessments for students on caseload.
  • Develop monthly progress reports on each student.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups with students.
  • Provide therapeutic guidance and direction to the team by monitoring student's behaviors and emotions.
  • Present therapeutic strategies to the team for each student to promote positive interactions with peers and adults and support students in learning strategies to develop executive functioning skills, social skills, independent living skills, problem-solving skills and resilience.
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of a trauma-informed community, assisting staff in understanding how adverse childhood experiences impact brain development and lead to challenging behaviors.
  • Respond to conflict and crisis situations. Implement CPS strategies when appropriate and debrief with students and adults involved in incidents. Assess for potential safety risks and intervene as necessary.
  • Write and process Serious Incident Reports (SIRs).
  • Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with parents, legal guardians, social workers, families and referral sources to advocate and support our students.
  • Serve as a link between student, school, and community by referring students and their families to other community resources.
  • Responsible for the implementation of best practices (Collaborate Problem Solving, Circle of Courage, Restorative Practices and TOVA) in school-wide behavior support and management and for debriefing after restraints.
  • Coach staff in applying best practices throughout the school day.
  • Must be highly present and visible during school hours, relentlessly ensuring the school is safe and caring. Proactively circulates throughout classrooms and hallways during the day, to gain valuable context on student behavior and help support school safety and positive school culture.
  • Supervise students during entry, hall transitions, lunchtime, and dismissal. Enforce rules and policies to ensure a safe, secure, efficient, and orderly facility and grounds.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the team to develop an active group process treatment in assigned classrooms.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation and ensure files are complete.
  • Participate in school activities outside regular hours, e.g., teacher-parent conferences, forums, marketing events, and prom.
  • Participate in professional development, meetings, educational conferences, and workshops to stay abreast of current best practices related to needs of students served.
  • Other duties assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in social work, counseling or related field. Two to three years of experience working with youth or families. Experience in a school setting preferred.

SALARY RANGE

$50,000 - $67,000
