City of Sarasota is seeking a Probationary, full-time Plant Operator Apprentice to train in water or wastewater treatment plant operations. You will work under supervision of a certified operator, inspect equipment, collect samples, and perform routine laboratory analyses.
Must complete Florida Class C certification within 18 months and maintain a valid Florida driver's license. This is a growth role within WasteWater Utilities.

To train in water or wastewater treatment plant operations.
Under the direction of and responsible to the Department Head or designated representative. No supervision exercised.
This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Work requires considerable physical activity including walking, lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling, grasping, balancing, climbing, kneeling, standing, and crouching. Worker is subject to inside and outside activities with a variety of weather changes, noise, vibrations, job hazards, and atmospheric conditions. Visual acuity is required to operate plant equipment and perform maintenance tasks. Worker is required to hear sufficiently to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment in performance of duties.
