TREATMENT OPERATOR IN TRAINING ~ SENIOR TREATMENT OPERATOR
GENERAL PURPOSE

Assists operators in day-to-day operations, maintenance, and upkeep of plant processes, equipment, and structures.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Close supervision by Senior Treatment Plant Operator/Superintendent and Operators.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May supervise laborers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitoring of plant processes and equipment.
  • Assisting in all plant operations and maintenance.
  • Assisting in facility upkeep – mowing lawn, weed eating, washing and cleaning tanks, etc.
  • Work a variety of shifts as required to maintain DEQ staffing.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent.
  • Six (6) months related experience or six (6) months as a City of Slidell Employee.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment necessary to maintain plant equipment, processes, and facilities.
  • Ability to follow all safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to pass Wastewater Operator I Test within two years of filling position.

The employee regularly works near operating mechanical and electrical equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wastewater. Hearing protection is occasionally needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
