Job summary

Luminis Health in Annapolis, Maryland is seeking a supervising residential staff member to oversee daily activities of patients, facilitate groups, and ensure safety and compliance with program guidelines.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, complete required documentation, and support discharge planning while upholding patient rights and treatment goals. The role requires BLS within 30 days and at least one year in behavioral health.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in behavioral health or human services preferred.
  • Understanding of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • One year of work experience in behavioral health; two years personal recovery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and support for patients and their activities.
  • Maintain adequate supply of welcome materials for new patients.
  • Orients new patients concerning treatment expectations, patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Provides supervision of resident environment and activities and clarifies program guidelines.
  • Conduct room searches according to program standards as needed.
  • Transports patient to and from groups, breaks, meals and outside appointments.
  • Assist and accompany patients during discharge processes.
  • Complete needed documentation under supervision according to Joint Commission, COMAR, Luminis Health and Pathways' requirements.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Pathways staff to manage complex patient problems.
  • Attend and participate in monthly TA meetings and trainings.
  • Work collaboratively with patients and multi-disciplinary teams to provide care.

  • Facilitate educational and/or skill building groups as assigned and maybe responsible for group coverage due to vacancy or absence.
  • Complete needed documentation, under supervision, according to Joint Commission, COMAR, Luminis Health and Pathways' requirements.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other Pathways staff to manage emergent and complex patient problems, concerns or other issues including those arising in the treatment environment.
  • Attend and participate in monthly TA meeting, multidisciplinary/all staff meetings as assigned and regular supervision along with in-service and other assigned trainings.
  • Work collaboratively with patient and multi-disciplinary teams, under supervision, to provide care based on patient's unique needs, strengths, values and preferences.
  • Pathways provides multiple levels of care; every staff member has a role in our patients' success and staff may be asked to work in other areas of admission or treatment as needed.
Position Objective

This position is responsible for general supervision of residents and their activities, milieu management and facilitation of group meetings. This position works closely with the TA Lead position and reports to the Pathways Inpatient/Residential Clinical Manager. Our treatment philosophy is based on evidence-based practices and multiple pathways to recovery; all staff collaborate to provide a treatment environment of learning, growth, and individualized clinical interventions to promote patient success and recovery.

Educational/Experience Requirements
Required Minimum Education

The minimum level of education for this position includes: High school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree in behavioral health or human services is strongly preferred. Requires general understanding of substance use disorders and awareness that patients may have co-occurring mental health issues.

Required Minimum Experience

One year of work experience required; work experience in behavioral health or personal recovery experience (minimum of two years personal recovery) strongly preferred. Two to four college level behavioral health internships may substitute on a 1:1 basis for up to two years work experience; Pathways internships strongly preferred.

Required License/Certifications

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through approved Luminis Health system required within 30 days of hire. Valid Maryland driver's license and driving record with no more than two points.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently to move objects, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Flexibility to work occasionally outside normal daytime work hours.
  • Must be able to observe and note patient behaviors as needed including during group activities.
  • Must be able to hear typical environmental sounds including during background noise.
  • Can understand and operate from the conceptual basis of tasks and activities.
  • Ability to move tables and chairs for setting up rooms for counseling.
  • There is reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
