Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a Treasury Analyst to join the Treasury Operations team. The role covers daily cash management, short-term borrowings and investments, project distributions, and ensuring compliance ratios are calculated accurately.

You will work closely with Berkshire Hathaway and subsidiaries. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 2+ years of treasury or banking experience, and strong communication and financial analysis skills.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of treasury or bank experience preferred.
  • Four or more years of treasury or bank experience preferred.
  • Strong time-management and organization to prioritize multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate treasury reporting and cash position reporting for Berkshire Hathaway and subsidiaries.
  • Assist in debt management including repayments and dividends/distributions.
  • Assist in short-term borrowings and investments per guidelines.
  • Assist and train Treasury Analysts and specialists; provide backup as needed.
  • Prepare month-end information for accounting.
  • Support investment banking relations and bank services implementations.

Job description

The Treasury Analyst is responsible for assisting the Treasury Operations team in carrying out the daily and monthly treasury operations of Berkshire Hathaway and its subsidiaries, including daily cash management, short‑term borrowings and investments, project distributions, and calculation of compliance ratios.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate treasury reporting and administration processes involving company cash position, foreign exchange, debt and capital management, including daily and monthly cash activity and balance reporting, administration of the treasury management system (GTreasury), issuance of corporate and project letters of credit, and providing month‑end information to accounting; manage repayment of short‑term and long‑term debt principal and interest, and distribution of corporate dividends and stock repurchases. (50%)
  • Assist in the issuance of commercial paper or short‑term bank revolver or line of credit borrowings as needed, and invest short‑term funds in compliance with investment guidelines. (15%)
  • Analyze bank statements, make recommendations to the Manager regarding services, and manage investment banking relations to implement approved bank services. (15%)
  • Review work, monitor, train and provide guidance to Treasury Analysts and specialists. (10%)
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested, including providing backup to Treasury Operations team members. (10%)
  • Prepare and provide appropriate month‑end information to accounting. (5%)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field, or equivalent related work experience (typically four years of progressive work experience for candidates without a bachelor’s degree).
  • Two or more years of related work experience, with treasury or bank experience preferred; knowledge of treasury and financial principles and regulations for the Treasury Analyst position.
  • Four or more years of related work experience, with treasury or bank experience preferred; knowledge of treasury and financial principles and regulations for the Senior Treasury Analyst position.
  • Strong time‑management and organization skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Effective oral, written and presentation skills for accurate and understandable communication.
  • Advanced software skills to create and analyze financial spreadsheet applications.
