Job summary

Van Meter seeks a Traveling Wire Processor Team Member to support orders from a mobile wire center, traveling across the United States for extended assignments. When not on assignment, you will operate at the Central Distribution Center, ensuring safe handling and accurate order fulfillment.

You will use a forklift, cut wire to specifications, palletize, label, and load for delivery, while maintaining safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to travel within the United States to be on assignment for months at a time.
  • Willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL if deemed necessary.
  • Ability to meet and maintain qualifications as required by the DOT.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Previous distribution center experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to operate lift truck equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Deployment to jobsites throughout the United States for extended periods of time.
  • Minimum 3 year commitment required.

Description

This position requires temporary relocation away from your primary residence for approximately 6-18 months at a time.

Summary:

The Traveling Wire Processor Team Member plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of being our customers’ competitive advantage by responding to customer orders efficiently and accurately. The Traveling Wire Processor Team Member works with a team at a mobile wire center to ensure the delivery, receipt and coordination of customer orders. To fill orders and receive inventory, this person will use a forklift to pick material from warehouse shelves, cuts wire to customer specifications, picks conduit, receives commodity items, and unloads trucks. This individual prepares the product for delivery to customers and/or other branch locations by palletizing, banding and labeling the product and works in conjunction with the Traveling Wire Processor Supervisor and other team members to ensure all customer orders are completed in an efficient manner while maintaining high levels of accuracy and safety. This person must have the flexibility to travel within the United States to be on assignment for months at a time. When not on assignment, this individual will work at the Central Distribution Center as a team member. This person exemplifies all safe work practices.
