Job summary

Heart + Paw is seeking a Traveling Veterinarian to provide care across VA, MD, DE, PA and NJ. The role offers a premium base plus production pay and travel reimbursement outside of 25 miles. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available.

You’ll work in a collaborative, client-centered environment, performing wellness, sick visits, and surgical/dental procedures while traveling to Northeast locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Active veterinary license in good standing with applicable state boards.
• DEA and CDS certification as applicable for job functions.
• Ability to travel to Northeast locations for shifts.
• Preference for surgical and/or dental capabilities.
• Ability to oversee sedation and perform anesthetic procedures.
• 2+ years of clinical experience required.
• Comfortable being the sole veterinarian in a hospital for most shifts.
• Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
• Willingness to obtain USDA accreditation within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinary shift coverage within Heart + Paw locations in the Northeast area.
• Practice client/patient centered care at each location.
• Collaborate with Partner Doctors to deliver Heart + Paw vision.
• Promote and practice high quality preventative care.
• Maintain center equipment and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Assist in marketing Heart + Paw services to local communities.

Highly competitive base salary range of $180-220,000 with additional production pay.

• .Reports to the appropriate operational leader(s) for locations served

Traveling Veterinarian Job Qualification

• Professional licensure in good standing with the applicable state veterinary board
• DEA and CDS as applicable for job functions
• Ability to travel to the Northeast area locations for shifts on your designated workday
• Preference to candidates with surgical and/or dental capabilities
• Ability to oversee sedation and perform anesthetic procedures
• Ability to accommodate same day access and sick appointments
• Preference to candidates with emergency or urgent care experience
• 2+ years of clinical experience required
• Comfortable with being the sole veterinarian in the hospital for majority of shift
• Strong interpersonal, client communication, and conflict resolution skills
• Consumer-centric mindset with ability to bring, build, and retain a strong client base
• Must obtain USDA accreditation for supported states within 6 months
• Strong interest in use of technology to advance the practice of veterinary medicine and the pet/pet parent experience
• Support Heart + Paw strategic initiatives and leverage key technological innovations in all location
• Highly collaborative and ability to handle ambiguity/learn on the fly
• Fear Free, CALM, and/or HABRI certification or desire to become certified in one low-stress handling methodology
