Job description

Overview

A System Specialist provides leadership for high-profile orders and high-end service support with installations, startups, commissioning and testing, and scheduled and emergency services on Precision Cooling Products. The System Specialist is expected to establish, promote and maintain excellent rapport with customers, co-workers, sales representatives and others as appropriate, and maintain continuous communication with CRC, Area/District Offices, and the direct manager.

Responsibilities
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish work-related goals
  • Performs a range of highly challenging work-related tasks
  • Leads others with minimal direct supervision
  • Supports start-up and commissioning activities for assigned projects
  • Ensures sufficient manpower on site each day to perform start-up and site testing work
  • Assists during start-up and commissioning as necessary, depending on manpower and site location
  • Monitors start-ups for timely completion and collaborates with sales reps and District Managers on quotes for additional services or excess labor due to delays beyond control
  • Provides first-level technical support to speed up problem resolution
  • Delivers daily status reports to Service management and sales representatives
Technical
  • Render on-site and phone assistance to customers
  • Communicate with Technical Support/Engineering on equipment issues
  • Provide on-site or telephone technical support to customer engineers
  • Assist contractors during installation and commissioning of assigned projects
  • Provide on-the-job training to customer engineers on various equipment
  • Implement Field Change Notices (FCN) according to guidelines
  • Stay current on Safety Bulletins, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips
Safety
  • Operate in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines
  • Wear appropriate PPE per company guidelines and job duties
  • Adhere to work hours policy guidelines
  • Report all work-related accidents or injuries within 24 hours to the appropriate personnel
Administration
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting according to company guidelines
  • Manage time cards, expense reports, mileage reports, ticket closures, and related forms
  • Provide Time and Material quotes for customers or contractors for assigned projects as necessary
  • Provide estimated time of arrival to the Customer Response Center (CRC) where applicable
  • Assist with scheduling within guidelines
  • Delegate team tasks as needed
  • Maintain company property per policy (vehicle, credit cards, PPE, test equipment, laptop, pager, cell phone, etc.)
Customer Satisfaction
  • Provide clear communication to internal and external customers
  • Provide estimated time of arrival to customers where applicable
  • Aim to achieve a “first time fix” for equipment
  • Maintain customer satisfaction rates per company guidelines
  • Attend customer/contractor meetings as required
Performance
  • Maximize productivity by aligning service opportunities
  • Complete work efficiently and on schedule
  • Make technical and commercial decisions under pressure when needed
  • Evaluate sites and equipment for appropriate billing status
  • Maintain productive utilization rate per company guidelines
  • Perform inventory cycle counts per guidelines
  • Adhere to company dress code and safety regulations
  • Understand and comply with startup/escalation processes and procedures
  • Lead by example and act as a role model for field associates
  • Maintain internal communications and effectively interact with all levels of the organization
Qualifications
  • Required experience (one of the following):
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry/commercial experience and leadership experience
  • Six years of military experience in a related field plus 5 years Liebert product experience
  • Required education: High School Diploma or accredited GED; 1-2 year HVAC Diploma or Technical School Degree; EPA 608 refrigerant license – Level 2 or Universal
  • Interpersonal skills: professional, leader, reliable, team player
  • Proficient with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and blueprints
  • Technical skills: site evaluation; ability to perform fixes/repairs; proper brazing techniques; knowledge of Liebert products; ability to train others; ability to summarize and report work; project management is a plus
  • Strong skill sets: scheduling and coordinating work; technical support; on-the-job training; delegation; communication; customer service; troubleshooting; safety; organization; computer skills; mechanical aptitude
  • Strong communication: ability to communicate with all levels within the customer organization; strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to manage stressful situations; excellent time management and ability to work with limited supervision
Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects/tools; reach with arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell
  • Frequently sit and climb or balance; vision requirements include close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Frequent driving; capacity to lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds
Working Conditions
  • Travel is required
  • Flexible schedules (weekends, evenings, holidays)
  • Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport required
  • On-call availability via national paging system
  • Deployable in emergencies
  • Must be at least 18 years old
