Job summary

Suffolk County Community College is seeking a full-time, 12-month Specialist for Surgical Technology at the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood, NY.

The role involves education, supervision, and evaluation of students in clinical and classroom settings, with travel to multiple clinical sites in Suffolk/Nassau and NYC Metro areas. The Specialist will coordinate with clinical site managers and educational coordinators, maintain equipment and documentation, and support instructors to ensure

Qualifications

Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA or equivalent).
Three years of operating room scrub or instructional/clinical supervising experience within the last five years.
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Arrange preceptors for each student and monitor progress weekly.
Maintain credentials with accrediting/regulatory bodies.
Assist with classroom instruction, labs, or clinical rotations as needed.
Evaluate clinical education effectiveness and progression.
Maintain documentation and records for rotations and accreditation.
Coordinate evaluations with site preceptors and college rotation supervisor.
Liaise between the college and clinical sites and orient students to rotation sites.
Ensure rotations meet course and program learning outcomes and timely reporting.
