Job summary

ARCO, a Family of Construction Companies, is seeking a seasoned field leader to manage ground-up cold storage and light industrial projects nationwide from day one. The role emphasizes safety, schedule, budget, and adherence to project specs across projects 100k sq ft and larger.

Qualifications

• 5-25 years construction experience with ≥5 years as lead superintendent on 100k sq ft warehouse/distribution center projects.
• ≥5 years of recent experience in the Southeast.
• Willing to travel nationally.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook; familiarity with project scheduling programs.
• Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in your state of residence.
• Ability to meet physical demands including standing/walking long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Attend post-award review meetings for preplanning details.
• Prepare a schedule of construction activities, organization structure, staffing, and equipment needs.
• Direct the total construction project to meet specifications and schedule within budget.
• Coordinate subcontractors to integrate with project schedules and progress.
• Inform supervisors/subcontractors of schedule changes promptly.
• Assist in preparing progress and cost reports reflecting actual costs.
• Review requisitions, field POs, invoices and other significant reports.
• Cooperate with owner representatives and architects to maintain project progress.
• Hold site meetings with project manager and regional manager.
• Report to project manager on progress, plans and problems affecting costs or schedules.
• Maintain a daily diary of significant project facts and approvals.
• Adhere to the company safety program at all times.

You’ll need 5-25 years of experience leading ground-up, cold storage and light industrial construction projects, 100K sq ft and above. You’ll have the opportunity to manage the construction and administrative activities associated with the field operations of a project from day one! Bringing the project to completion on schedule, within budget, and per the project specifications.

A Day in the Life:

• Attend the post-award review meeting to receive project information and details for preplanningbefore construction
• Participate with the project manager in preparing a schedule of construction activities and theirsequence, the organization structure, staff selection, and the manpower and constructionequipment requirements of the project
• Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and within the allotted timeschedule in an efficient manner to produce the expected profit
• Assist the project manager/engineer in their duties including prompt shipmentof materials and permanent equipment and obtaining approvals of shop drawings and materialsamples
• Coordinate the activities of subcontractors to permit them to perform their work effectively and tointegrate it with project schedules and progress
• Inform all supervisors and subcontractors promptly of any construction schedule changes
• Assist in the preparation of all job progress and cost reports to accurately reflect actual costs
• Review and approve all requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other significant reportsand documents
• Cooperate with the owner and his representatives, keeping them informed of constructionprogress
• Cooperate with architects or owner representatives on an amicable basis, but in the long-terminterest of the company
• Hold job site meetings with project manager and the regional manager
• Report regularly to the project manager to keep them constantly informed on job progress, plans,and problems that could significantly affect costs or schedules
• Maintain a daily diary to permanently record all significant project facts, events, conditions,visitors, owner representative contacts, commitments, agreements, and approvals
• Direct adherence to the company’s safety program in all phases and areas of the project
• Organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities to accomplishdesired results
• Demonstrate leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, andeffectively address conflict
• Exhibit commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes, making necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting/exceeding internal and external customer expectations
• Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations

Necessary Qualifications:

• 5-25 years of construction experience, with at least 5 of those years as a lead superintendent on warehouse or distribution center projects that are a minimum of 100k sq ft
• At least five years of recent experience working within the Southeast
• Willing to travel nationally
• Computer skills: proficiency in using Word, Excel, Outlook and project scheduling programs
• Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in your state of residence
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: standing or walking for long periods of time, occasionally on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs, and/or lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds.
