Job summary

rand* construction corporation is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead field staff on commercial interior, retail, and building renovation projects across markets. This role requires extensive travel, often overnight, and coordination of subcontractors, vendors, and staff to meet the project schedule.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years as a lead superintendent on similar projects, strong safety leadership, and excellent communication with internal and client teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or experience in trades; college experience preferred.
• Must have 15 years’ experience as lead superintendent on commercial interior, retail or building renovation projects.
• Display exemplary performance in all project safety related categories.
• Periodically audit jobsites during site walks to ensure standards are being met.
• Assist teams with complex and specialty quality control issues.
• Assist teams with pre-punch walks to identify quality trends and ensure smooth/timely punch list process.
• Set the example of 'do and teach' by training and coaching Superintendents at all levels to meet rand*'s high standards of administration and organization.
• Must have 6 years’ experience as lead superintendent on commercial interior projects.
• OSHA 30; OSHA Competent Persons Training preferred.
• Capable of managing projects up to $10M.
• First Aid and CPR Certification

Responsibilities

• Oversee field staff and subcontractors to build per plans and specs.
• Coordinate materials, tools, and staff on site for timely execution.
• Handle daily reports, time sheets, safety reports and incident documentation.
• Monitor work, direct subcontractors, and schedule work per project schedule.
• Promote rand*’s reputation for exceptional client service.

What you’ll do:

As a Traveling Superintendent, you will be working on exciting projects in different markets, often with extended overnight stays out of town. Travel may range from 90 miles from a local rand* office, to other states across the country.

The Superintendent is responsible for all the field staff on a project and will make sure that projects are built according to plans and specifications. They will supervise work of all subcontractors, vendors, laborers and other project stakeholders. They are responsible, along with Project Manager for having the material, tools/equipment, information and staff requirements on the jobsite in the proper place in a timely fashion. The Superintendent handles all correspondence and forms required by the rand* office, e.g., daily reports, time sheets, safety reports, accident reports, etc. They will monitor the work being performed, direct the subcontractors and schedule all work according to the requirements of the project schedule. The superintendent effectively utilizes management skills in directing supervision of subcontractors, along with coordinating subcontractor’s activities within the scope of their duties. This position also requires excellent communication skills, both internal with the rand* project team, as well as externally with the client team. The Superintendent is responsible for promoting rand*’s reputation for exceptional client service.

Preferred Candidates Will Also Possess The Following Skills

• Must have 10+ years’ experience as lead superintendent on commercial interior, retail, or building renovation projects
• Proven track record of independent judgment and decision-making when faced with matters of executive or non-routine nature
• Ability to anticipate and be proactive
• Ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with individuals at all levels
• Able to troubleshoot and solve highly complex project-related issues with all levels of team members
• Ability to manage deadlines, deliver as needed
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with a strong attention to detail

PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
