Skillforce is seeking Storage Tank Welders to support projects in Wyoming and Utah. The role involves welding storage tanks per industry standards, with per diem and travel pay available.

The candidate will perform SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, read blueprints, prepare materials, and ensure weld quality on tanks, piping, and structural components while adhering to safety regulations and project schedules. Travel nationwide is required.

Qualifications

  • Prepare materials and fit components for welding to specified tolerances.
  • Inspect welds and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and other welding processes as required by project specifications.
  • Weld structural steel, storage tanks, piping, and miscellaneous metal components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication details.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, fitting, grinding, and aligning components.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Operate welding machines, torches, grinders, and other hand and power tools safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while following housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Travel to project sites and work extended hours as required.

Job description

Currently seeking skilled and experienced Storage Tank Welders to join our team in for projects in Wyoming & Utah. As a Storage Tank Welder you are responsible for performing welding operations on storage tanks in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations. Pay is $36 - $44 per hour. Per diem & travel pay is available for qualified candidates.

  • Perform SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and other welding processes as required by project specifications.
  • Weld structural steel, storage tanks, piping, and miscellaneous metal components in accordance with approved welding procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication details.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, fitting, grinding, and aligning components.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Operate welding machines, torches, grinders, and other hand and power tools safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all company housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Work effectively with supervisors, fitters, laborers, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
  • Travel to project sites throughout the United States and work extended hours as required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of field welding experience in industrial construction, structural steel, or storage tank construction.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SMAW (Stick) welding; additional welding processes as required by project.
  • Ability to pass applicable welding tests and certifications required for assigned projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to designated reporting locations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively for project assignments.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment and client-required screenings, including drug testing when required.
Storage Tank Welder Preferred Skills
  • Experience welding aboveground storage tanks.
  • Experience with structural steel erection or industrial piping.
  • Current AWS or other applicable welding certifications.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction certification.
  • NCCER credentials.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts, forklifts, or other construction equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic layout, fitting, and fabrication tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods (8–12+ hour shifts).
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for prolonged periods.
  • Reach overhead and work with arms extended.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding, and structures up to 70 feet above ground.
  • Work in confined spaces and at elevated heights when required.
  • Work is performed primarily outdoors on active industrial construction sites.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
  • Exposure to welding fumes, dust, noise, and other industrial hazards.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
  • Frequent travel and overnight stays are required based on project assignments.
Schedule Requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, night shifts, or swing shifts as needed to meet project schedules and customer requirements.
