Job summary

Morrison Healthcare, a Compass Healthcare company, seeks a Traveling Sous Chef to provide culinary leadership and operational support across five healthcare food service accounts in New York and Connecticut. The role travels daily between Poughkeepsie, Carmel, Danbury, Sharon, and Norwalk locations to assist staffing, menu execution, and training.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field.
• Progressive culinary and kitchen management experience in healthcare, senior living, hospitality, or contract food service environments.
• Experience managing multiple locations or regional operations preferred.
• Catering and special event experience strongly preferred.
• High-volume, complex food service operations experience highly desirable.
• Healthcare, institutional, and batch cooking experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food trends, quality standards, production methods, sanitation, and cost controls.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to engage in client satisfaction programs.
• ServSafe Certification highly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for travel.

Responsibilities

• Travel between assigned healthcare accounts to provide culinary and operational support.
• Assist Executive Chefs with menu planning, recipe execution, and daily production.
• Support kitchen operations during staffing shortages and high-volume periods.
• Monitor food quality, safety, sanitation, and presentation standards across locations.
• Help manage food costs, inventory controls, purchasing, and expenditures.
• Plan and execute catering functions, events, and client programs.
• Train and mentor culinary team members on best practices and company standards.
• Support rollout of new culinary programs and seasonal menus with corporate teams.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and HACCP procedures.
• Participate in client satisfaction initiatives and address operational challenges.
• Promote safety, teamwork, and customer service culture across sites.
