Responsibilities

• Maintain a referral, screening and diagnostic system to identify students in need of speech and language services.
• Fulfill the ISBE requirements for a speech-language case study evaluation.
• Schedule students needing therapy and implement appropriate programs.
• Counsel each student regarding future educational and/or vocational potential.
• Offer consultative services to school personnel regarding students receiving therapy.
• Arrange meetings with parents or guardians for observation of therapy.
• Attend staffing on students where speech and/or language may be involved.
• Assist with in-service training of school personnel.
• Prepare necessary local and state reports as directed.
