Job summary

CoolSys is seeking Traveling Rack Refrigeration Install Technicians in the Atlanta area to install supermarket refrigeration and EMS-enabled systems across diverse sites with extensive travel.

You will work with a skilled team, handle multi-site projects, and contribute to energy optimization initiatives while meeting customer needs efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; EPA I & II required.
• EMS certification preferred; trade program graduates acceptable.
• 5–7+ years in commercial refrigeration, especially parallel rack systems.

Responsibilities

• Evacuate parallel racks after pressure tests.
• EMS wiring and programming for EMS systems.
• Start-up of new parallel refrigeration systems.
• Lead small projects like single-case and condenser changes.
• Assist EO projects to improve system performance.
• Coordinate with local managers for training and problem stores.

Responsibilities

The Traveling Rack Refrigeration Install Technicians are responsible for the install of supermarket refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment to ensure customer needs are met efficiently, accurately and on-time as well as assists with Energy Optimization (EO) projects. The ideal candidate should know advanced solid‑state controls; oil systems safety controls; mechanical sub‑cooling; introduction to head pressure controls for energy reduction; introduction to energy management systems (EMS); refrigeration rack oil systems; advanced de‑frost diagnosis; and single and parallel compressor system start‑up in a supermarket environment. Technician must carry the skillset up of a Journeyman level which includes construction experience in performing installation of refrigeration systems including electrical, plumbing and fixtures. Technician will function as the subject matter expert for process, procedures, and projects.

This position requires extensive travel with two weeks out and two weeks at home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs evacuations of parallel racks after verifying pressure tests.
• Performs all EMS wiring and programming for all manufactures of EMS systems.
• Performs full start‑up of new parallel refrigeration systems and individual systems.
• Leads small projects such as single case and condenser change outs.
• Assists with EO projects which would include retro‑commissioning of supermarkets for system performance or utility programs, EMS upgrades, leak detection upgrades, gas conversion projects.
• Works with local branch Service and Construction Managers between projects to assist in problematic stores, training for junior technicians and foreman, or other areas as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Training

• High school diploma, GED, or completion from trade program or technical school, required.
• EPA I and II Certification required.
• EMS Certification preferred.

Work Experience / Skills

• 5-7+ years of experience in commercial refrigeration; especially experience with parallel rack systems.
• Experience and proficient knowledge of supermarket refrigeration.
• 3+ years of supermarket EMS systems.
• Valid Driver’s License required at all times and good driving record.
• Expert knowledge of refrigeration, ice machines, and electrical systems.
• Expert knowledge of single systems, parallel racks systems, display cases and walk‑ins.
• Ability to efficiently troubleshoot commercial and supermarket refrigeration equipment.
• Expert knowledge of EMS systems in supermarket applications for wiring and programming (CPC, Novar, Danfoss) preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with the customers, management, crew, and team.
• Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints on refrigeration, electrical and plumbing.
• Ability to multi‑task effectively.
• Ability to organize and prioritize your own work schedule and the work schedules of others on short‑term basis.
• Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, etc.
• Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
