Job summary

The Berg Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Traveling Project Manager - Mission Critical to lead commercial and mission-critical construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning. This role ensures safety, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction while coordinating with project teams, owners, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience delivering commercial construction, industrial, infrastructure, or mission-critical projects.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Experience supporting project procurement, scheduling, change management, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) project coordination.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders including owners, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, Autodesk Construction Cloud/PlanGrid, or similar construction management software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and mobile technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day execution of assigned commercial and mission-critical construction projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and update integrated project schedules while monitoring progress against milestones and implementing recovery plans.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, field operations, commissioning, owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Manage project resources, manpower planning, equipment, procurement activities, and subcontractor performance.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, particularly those affecting critical-path activities, long-lead equipment, schedule, and project costs.
  • Administer project change management, including pricing, documentation, negotiation, and execution of change orders.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure all project information is communicated effectively while maintaining proactive communication with field leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular site visits and job walks to monitor project progress, safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction.
  • Review WIP, project billings, forecasting, and financial performance with project leadership.
  • Coordinate with project teams and clients to resolve outstanding change orders and secure final payment within timelines.
