Job summary

JSI is seeking a traveling Outside Plant (OSP) Inspector to oversee fiber optic cable construction, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to engineering plans across the United States.

You will collaborate with construction crews, project managers, and permitting agencies to support broadband buildouts, document progress, and ensure timely project delivery while advancing your career within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in OSP RUS telecom inspection, construction, and/or engineering preferred.
• Aerial construction/inspection experience required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, maps, staking sheets, and construction prints.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activities to ensure fiber placement, construction, and engineering standards/specifications for aerial, buried, or underground installations follow prints and customer specs.
• Verify cable and equipment placement, sequential numbers, and handhole/pedestal installation accuracy; document GPS coordinates and as-built data.
• Support schedule coordination, workflow monitoring, and cost tracking efforts.
• Resolve design and staking sheet problems; interpret guidelines for specific applications when needed.
• Prepare and submit daily reports and project documentation.
• Communicate with landowners, permitting agencies, and internal departments.
