The Highway Construction Superintendent will oversee union crews installing guardrail, attenuators, sign structures, and other highway safety hardware from the Folsom, NJ yard. This is a non-union supervisory role coordinating with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, clients, and union representatives.

Qualifications

• Supervise union crews installing highway safety hardware per plans and DOT specs.
• Plan daily work, assign tasks, and manage safety, quality and production.
• Coordinate with project team, clients, and union representatives on site.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise union crews installing highway safety hardware in accordance with plans, specifications, and DOT requirements.
• Plan and direct daily work, set production goals, and assign tasks to complete jobs safely, on time, and within budget.
• Enforce safety requirements and conduct daily toolbox talks, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site safety inspections.
• Read and interpret construction plans, shop drawings, and traffic control plans to ensure field work meets contract requirements.
• Coordinate site setup, traffic control, material staging, and equipment use; verify proper operation and maintenance of crew equipment.
• Manage crew operations in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement, coordinate staffing with the local union hall, and address crew issues professionally.
• Mentor, train, and develop crew members through clear direction and constructive feedback.
• Serve as the on-site point of contact for project coordination.
• Complete and submit accurate daily reports, timesheets, production logs, and equipment and material records.
• Communicate scope changes, differing site conditions, and extra work.
