Job summary

The Tepa Companies seek a Heavy Equipment Operator to perform a variety of equipment operating activities on construction sites. This is a traveling position supporting the Midwest Region, with a pay range of $24.42 to $37.89 per hour plus per diem for travelers 95+ miles from the job site.

Operates equipment, inspects and maintains gear, reads plans, and follows safety procedures. CDL preferred but not required; travel and site work across multiple project sites are expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience operating construction equipment (excavators, loaders, graders, scrapers, skid loaders, rollers)
• Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Equipment Operators, Laborers and all onsite personnel
• Must be able to read and understand construction drawings
• Knowledge of safety practices and OSHA standards
• Demonstrate reliability, energy, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Operates construction equipment safely and efficiently (excavators, loaders, graders, scrapers, skid loaders, rollers).
• Performs daily equipment inspections and maintenance with proper documentation.
• Loads/unloads materials and debris.
• Reads surveying stakes and interprets grade control and utilities.
• Interacts with geotechnical engineer and interprets testing results.
• Identifies and uses hand and power tools on site.
• Maintains site safety and clears hazards; follows safe procedures.
• Assists with other physical labor as assigned (digs, backfills, pours concrete, etc.).
