Job summary

PUSH, Inc. is seeking a CDL Directional Drill Operator/Locator (HDD) to install fiber, copper, and power cables using trenchless HDD methods. The role requires reading prints and schematics, training teammates, and operating Vermeer/Ditch Witch equipment in rural and urban settings.

This field role involves extensive outdoor work, travel, and staying away from home as needed. Safety compliance and equipment maintenance are essential, with opportunities for growth and advancement within the

Qualifications

• Experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling around utilities in rural and urban areas.
• Ability to read prints and schematics for HDD projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate Directional Bore equipment for underground cable installation.
• Ensure proper steering and alignment based on job prep and projections.
• Maintain bore profile plots and provide directional drilling data to customers.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in safety meetings.
• Inspect and maintain equipment, perform routine lubrication and minor repairs.
• Read utility locates and coordinate daytime lighting of facilities.
• Assist with all job aspects and perform basic labor tasks.
• Set up and clean up the work site, including traffic and pedestrian controls.

Job description

The CDLDirectional Drill Operator/Locator (HDD) operates equipment necessary to install fiber-optic cable, copper cable, coaxial cable, single and three phase power cable and possibly sewer or water facilities safely and efficiently via the HDD trenchless construction method. Must have experience with HDD around utilities in rural and urban areas, experience reading prints and schematics and the ability to train and mentor other team members.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Operates Directional Bore equipment for installation of underground cable conduit or utilities.
• Ensure proper steering based on the noted job preparations and projections.
• Operates construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade alignment specification.
• Maintain bore profile plots and provide customer with directional drilling data.
• Abide all company and manufacturer safety procedures and industry safety standards, in addition to attending mandatory safety meetings.
• Responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all equipment, including routine maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment, as necessary.
• Reads utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities.
• Assist with all aspects of the job including basic labor responsibilities.
• Ensure that setup and cleanup of work site is completed properly, including traffic and pedestrian control measures.

Education and/or Experience:

• Work Experience: Experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling around utilities in rural and urban areas. Experience working around or with different size Vermeer or Ditch Witch units and various brands of locating equipment, preferred.
• Industry Knowledge:General knowledge of Utility Construction Procedures, including print reading. In addition, have knowledge of or be familiar with all procedures and associated tools and equipment necessary to install underground utilities in the most effective, safe, and profitable manor. Comprehension of ground conditions for drilling/boring.

Requirements:

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
• Demonstrated field experience working with HDD Crews – operating rigs and/or locating.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn.
• Ability to maintain equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
