Job summary

SSI SCHAEFER is seeking a Traveling Mechatronics Technician to support installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated material handling systems at customer sites. Home base will be Findlay, OH when not traveling.

The ideal candidate has a mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, or industrial automation background with hands-on experience troubleshooting automated equipment in manufacturing or distribution environments. Travel about 50% is required.

Qualifications

2-year degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Technology, or Mechanical Technology, or equivalent experience.
1–3 years of experience maintaining automated equipment.
Working knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles.
Experience with motors, drives, belts, bearings, and other mechanical components.
Ability to travel ~50% and work independently at customer sites.

Responsibilities

Coordinate on-site installation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and align electrical and mechanical system equipment.
Troubleshoot and clear electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults.
Monitor system performance and resolve high-impact issues with customers.
Travel to customer sites for installations, service, training, and coverage.
Develop and maintain standards, tools, and procedures for hardware projects.
Train internal and external customers to increase system knowledge.
