Job summary

Cascade Environmental is seeking a CDL Class A driller to operate drill rigs in the West Sacramento area. You will maintain daily reports, ensure safe operations, and mentor a drilling crew. The role includes travel (80–90%), with home nights, and a 10 days on/4 days off schedule on many projects.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A and State Driller License preferred
• 3+ years in the drilling industry with at least 1 year operating various rigs (sonic, rotary, auger)
• Negative drug test
• Background check clearance - offenses reviewed case-by-case
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable MVR
• Interstate DOT Medical Card and FMCSA requirements
• HAZWOPER physical
• Legal right to work in the United States (IRCA)
• Respiratory protection requirements per Health & Safety Plan or monitoring

Responsibilities

• Operate drill rigs and drilling equipment with high proficiency
• Maintain daily drilling reports
• Ensure equipment safety; perform routine/preventive maintenance
• Lead drilling crew, train/mentor team, maintain safe environment
• Maintain knowledge of MSDS/CEU/JSAs
• Approve employee timesheets
• Complete well logs, logbooks, repair orders, tailgates, DVIRs
• Foster professional relations with team and clients
• Maintain all required certifications
• Manual lifting up to 50 pounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

• We offer the opportunity for travel -
  • Our Sacramento location travels 80-90% of the time but will be home every night. Travel is mainly in Northern California, Northern Nevada, Central Valley, and the Bay area.
  • Projects typically operate on a '10 Days on / 4 Days off' schedule with occasional weekend and night shifts, depending on project requirements. Workday schedules may be 10-12 hours.
  • Occasional travel on the weekends may be required

HERE’S AN IDEA OF WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO -

• Operate drill rigs and drilling equipment with high proficiency
• Maintain daily drilling reports
• Ensure equipment is in safe working condition and conduct routine and preventative maintenance, as needed
• Lead a drilling crew by training and mentoring employees and maintaining a safe environment
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MSDS, CEU's and JSA's
• Approve employee timesheets
• Complete well logs, logbook, repair orders, tailgates, and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
• Promote positive and professional relationships with team members and clients
• Maintain all required certifications
• Be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds
• Completes other duties and projects, as assigned

HERE’S WHAT WE REQUIRE -

• CDL Class A and State Driller License is preferred
• 3+ years' experience in the drilling industry, with at least one (1) year of experience operating a variety of rigs (i.e. sonic, rotary, auger)
• Negative drug test
• Satisfactory results of a background check (and your authorization to conduct a routine background check) - offenses will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Possessing a valid Driver's License for the state in which you reside and satisfactory results of a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is an essential requirement to function in this job
• Obtaining and maintaining an interstate DOT Medical Card and meeting all Federal Interstate FMCSA requirements to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle
• Passing a HAZWOPER physical
• Verifying your legal right to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA)
• Respiratory Protection will be required to be worn if specified by a site-specific Health and Safety Plan, or when air monitoring indicates potential for exposure levels to reach an established action, level, threshold limit value (TLV), or permissible exposure limit (PEL).To comply with health and safety standards to protect against workplace hazards, employees may be required to shave or maintain facial hair in a manner that ensures a proper seal for respirator use.
