Job summary

National OnDemand, Inc. is seeking skilled field personnel to install UG plant facilities using directional drills and related equipment. You will set up equipment, perform potholing, locate utilities, and install fiber cables while following OSHA safety rules.

Travel between project sites may be required, including multi-state assignments. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prior drilling/construction experience, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating directional drills required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Combination of technical training and/or relevant experience.
• Previous construction experience preferred.
• Must meet physical requirements and work outdoors in all weather.
• Willing to travel as needed, up to 14 days.

Responsibilities

• Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and other equipment to install UG plant facilities.
• Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently.
• Perform utility exposes and understand the utility locate process.
• Locate other utilities and maintain clearances.
• Transport, handle, and place conduits correctly.
• Install fiber reels and fiber cables in conduits.
• Set and secure pedestals and vaults accurately.
• Read and interpret network prints.
• Adhere to OSHA safety requirements for safe, efficient work.
• Travel to project sites and assist with new start-ups as needed.

Primary Position Duties

• Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and other equipment to install UG plant facilities.
• Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently.
• Perform utility exposes (potholing) and understand the utility locate process.
• Locate other utilities as needed and maintain clearances from other utilities, ground, road, highway, sidewalk, and non-pedestrian areas.
• Transport, handle, and place conduits (rolled and stick) in a proper manner.
• Properly transport and install fiber reels.
• Install fiber cables in conduits following proper procedures.
• Set and secure pedestals and vaults accurately.
• Read and interpret network prints.
• Adhere to OSHA safety requirements to ensure safe and efficient completion of the job(s).
• Maintain regular phone communication throughout the workday.
• Follow directions provided by the crew leader.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Working Conditions

• The employee will primarily work in the field.
• The job requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels may occur.

Travel

• Travel to other project sites in different states may be required to assist with new project start-ups.
• Travel may be for up to a 14-day period

Education Or Skills

• Previous experience operating directional drills is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Combination of technical training and/or relevant experience.
• Previous experience in a construction environment is preferred.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass drug, background, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screenings.
