Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a contract data center technician in Lincoln, NE to support nationwide cabling upgrades from coax to fiber. You’ll join a Level 2 tiger team, travel extensively, and set up initial processes at new sites, ensuring smooth project starts and ongoing reliability.

The role requires hands‑on cabling, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to work independently in live data centers. Expect up to 75% travel and on‑site work with a reimbursed travel plan.

Qualifications

• Experience as a data center technician in live environments.
• Hands‑on cabling work including pulling and terminating.
• Experience with coax and fiber upgrades in data centers.
• Strong troubleshooting of cabling and connectivity issues.
• Willingness to travel nationwide up to two weeks at a time.
• Able to work independently on site with minimal supervision.
• Follow established processes and safety protocols.
• Attention to detail and quality in installations.

Responsibilities

• Travel nationwide to data center sites for up to ~2 weeks at a time.
• Join Level 2 tiger team to set up initial processes and best practices.
• Replace legacy coax with fiber per project specs.
• Pull, route, and terminate coax and fiber cabling.
• Troubleshoot cabling and related infrastructure on site.
• Configure, test, and validate cable installations for production.
• Handover to Level 1 technicians after initial phases.
• Document routes, terminations, and issues for records.
• Follow data center processes, safety, and security protocols.
• Work at home market data center during downtimes between projects.
• Communicate status and needs to project leads and team.
