Job summary

The Haskell Company is seeking an on-site Safety Specialist to manage project-specific safety and health issues, protecting employees, contract staff, clients, and the public. You will coordinate activities to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and company policies on each project.

Responsibilities include safety pre-planning, training, weekly safety meetings, incident reporting, and involvement in pre-construction and subcontractor meetings. Travel nationwide is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years active safety experience within the construction industry or pursuit of safety-related degree.
• Experience with advanced technology and mission-critical markets, manufacturing and industrial water.
• Recognized safety certification (STS, CSST, CSSS) through BCSP or NCCER.
• Ability to understand and enforce federal, state, local regulations and company policies.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; align with company values of Team, Excellence, Service, and Trust.

Responsibilities

• Participates in safety pre-planning and hazard analysis for a project with the project superintendent.
• Initiates and monitors project drug screening procedures.
• Conducts safety orientation and training for all employees and contract partners on arrival on site.
• Conducts all necessary safety training for an assigned project.
• Enforces safety rules per established disciplinary action guidelines.
• Maintains training records and all project safety documentation.
• Administers record keeping and reporting guidelines as required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
• Conducts accident investigations and assists with prompt reporting of incidents/accidents.
