Qualifications

• New York State license or ability to obtain before starting.
• Minimum 2 years X-ray Technologist experience, including Level 1 trauma center.
• Recent OR experience and C-arm/O-arm use within past 8 months.
• BLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identities and review physician orders before x-ray procedures.
• Operate radiographic equipment to capture diagnostic images per orders.
• Explain procedures to patients and address inquiries.
• Position patients, assist those with limited mobility.
• Ensure safe handling of equipment and minimize radiation exposure.
• Observe patient status and meet age-specific needs.
• Produce diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation and store them in PACS.
• Notify management of damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

Monday to Friday, Day shift, 8-hour shifts, with on-call responsibilities including 2-3 call shifts per month.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for operating radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic images as per physician's orders while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The role requires verifying patient identity, explaining procedures, positioning patients, and producing high-quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identities and review physician orders prior to performing x-ray procedures.
• Use x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs based on physician requests.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any inquiries they may have.
• Position patients appropriately, which may involve lifting and moving those with limited mobility.
• Ensure the safe and proper handling of radio-logic equipment, maintaining minimal radiation exposure to patients.
• Observe patient status and interpret relevant information to meet age-specific needs.
• Produce diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation and ensure proper identification and storage in the PACS system.
• Notify management promptly regarding any damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• A minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience, including experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Recent operating room experience and experience using C-arm/O-arm equipment within the past 8 months.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to lift patients and stand for extended periods.
