Job Summary
Vascular Sonographer located in Washington, Iowa. The Ultrasound Technologist will be responsible for performing general, abdominal/obstetrics‑gynecology (OB‑GYN), and vascular ultrasound examinations. Candidates must bring a valid license on the first day of assignment. The position involves working with the organization’s electronic medical record systems and providing high‑quality imaging services in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform high‑quality general ultrasound including abdomen, OB‑GYN, and vascular studies in accordance with all policies and procedures.
- Competently set up and assist radiologists.
- Work with electronic medical record systems to generate and complete exam orders.
- Perform, record, and analyze quality control data to maintain accuracy and precision.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks and cleaning work areas.
- Ensure regular attendance, including clocking in and out at scheduled times with minimal unplanned time off.
- Maintain clinical competency and current professional knowledge through in‑house education, competencies, and training on new protocols and equipment.
- Transport patients as needed; possess knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for image release and transmission.
- Inform appropriate personnel of departmental supply needs to ensure uninterrupted testing.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient and staff experiences.
- Display and promote company values.
- Work independently with flexibility in schedule and willingness to cover other shifts.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of ultrasound.
- RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) registration preferred.
- RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) in Abdomen and OB‑GYN preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Valid license to be brought on the first day.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 100+ pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, regulated environment with strong communication, teamwork, and analytical skills.
- Ability to triage urgent situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PACS systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory agency policies.
