Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a Level I Trauma academic medical center in the New Haven area. Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and post-procedure care are central to the role, with 3x12-hour night shifts and a 1:4 patient ratio.

Requirements include an active CT compact RN license, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and 2+ years of RN experience with cardiac focus. Travel-friendly with housing and licensure support; PPE and epic charting are part of daily workflow.

Qualifications

• Active or pending CT (compact) RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years with Level I trauma/travel)
• Cardiac experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care
• Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath care
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with exemptions only

Responsibilities

• Works in the Heart & Vascular Center on the Telemetry unit
• Cardiac telemetry patient population including MS/Tele cases
• Average patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide telemetry monitoring and cardiac care within a Level I Trauma academic medical center
• Care for patients with cardiac drips, dysrhythmias, and post-cardiac procedures
• Royal blue scrub color required
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require facility approval
• Local candidates not accepted if residing within 75 miles of the facility
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
