Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Stepdown/IMC RN for a night shift contract in Maryland. Candidates must have an active RN license (MD or Compact), BLS/ACLS, and at least 2 years of recent experience, including PCU/IMC/Stepdown settings.

Travel experience is required, and Relias EKG exam must be completed with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms. Responsibilities include 3x12 hour nights (1845-0715) with 1:4 IMC ratios, potential float to Telemetry/Med-Surg, and weekend/holiday

Qualifications

• Active RN license (MD state license or Compact)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, and oxygen administration
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Stepdown/IMC unit within a hospital setting
• IMC patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (1845-0715)
• Float required to Telemetry and/or Medical-Surgical units as needed (1:5/1:6 ratio on those units)
• Every other weekend coverage required, with scheduling directed by unit operational needs
• Holiday coverage required
• Provide care for stepdown/IMC patients requiring close monitoring and cardiac telemetry
• Perform respiratory, cardiac, renal, and GI interventions as needed for patient population
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• No more than 7 days of requested time off permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
