Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing in Bishop, California seeks a Speech Language Pathologist for a 13-week travel assignment. The SLP will evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders across age groups, with support from a clinical team.

Responsibilities include designing therapy programs, documenting progress in EMR, educating patients and caregivers, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Valid SLP license in California or in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (preferred)
  • CCC-SLP certification (preferred)
  • Speech Language Pathology experience or new graduates welcome to apply
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Required Qualifications

Summary

The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. SLPs work in diverse settings, develop individualized treatment plans to enhance speech, language, and cognitive‑communication abilities, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to improve communication outcomes and overall quality of life.

Essential Work Functions
  • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population.
  • Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence‑based practices.
  • Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home‑based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, while offering supportive counseling as required.
  • Work in conjunction with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients’ comfort needs during therapy sessions.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in speech‑language therapy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical abilities: remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure; work under close supervision occasionally, as well as independently; handle irregular activity schedules and maintain concentration to detail
  • Sensory: possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
