Duties & Responsibilities

The Speech Language Pathologist / SLP is responsible for the assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and/or language deficits. The SLP will teach patients how to make sounds, improve voices, or increase oral or written language skills to communicate more effectively, and will help individuals strengthen swallowing muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow safely.

• Assess patient needs, plan for, evaluate and modify care to meet speech therapy goals.
• Set realistic and achievable goals for patients to develop or recover reliable communication and swallowing skills so they can fulfill educational, vocational, and social roles.
