Job summary

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology
  • Speech‑Language Pathology experience (new grads welcome)
  • Other certifications or licenses required for the position
Summary

The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. The SLP develops individualized treatment plans and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to improve communication outcomes and quality of life.

Essential Work Functions
  • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population.
  • Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence‑based practices.
  • Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home‑based exercises, and safe swallowing practices.
  • Work with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and proficiency with PC skills.
  • Physical Abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lb), push, pull, bend.
  • Interpersonal Skills: work effectively with diverse personnel and display a positive attitude.
  • Technical/Motor Skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, assistance with procedures, use of department equipment.
  • Mental Requirements: cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines, work under supervision or independently, maintain concentration and detail orientation.
  • Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication.
