Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring cardiac and neuro experience, night shifts, and SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Surgical ICU (SICU) of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes complex surgical, cardiac, and neuro cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• Required to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotations
• Float to similar units as needed, in line with staff expectations
• Uses Epic EMR system
• No on-call responsibilities
• Perform specialized nursing care for post-surgical, cardiac, and neuro patients in a critical care setting
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
• Complete facility-required modules pre-start (average 4 hours)
• Free parking is available on site
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application and is subject to facility approval
• Travelers must be available to participate in emergency response during hurricane season (June to November)
• Return to the facility as a traveler is only permitted after a 1-year separation for previous staff

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start
• Minimum 1 year of recent SICU experience, with 2 years preferred
• Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Demonstrated experience caring for cardiac and neuro patients
• Epic charting experience preferred
• No current or recent (within 1 year) permanent or PRN employment at the facility
• Not accepting first-time travelers
• Must not reside within 60 miles of the facility
