Amergis Healthcare Staffing, Inc. is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Alexandria, Louisiana.

The assignment runs 13 weeks with 36 hours per week on 12-hour shifts, presenting an excellent opportunity for flexible travel nursing experience. The RN will deliver comprehensive care to adult patients, administer medications, monitor conditions, and coordinate with physicians and the care team in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice.
• Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; Med-Surg experience preferred.
• Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable).
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
• TB screening and health clearance as required by contract or regulation.
• Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Successful completion of orientation and Med-Surg training.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for adult patients.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical exams, and health histories.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as prescribed.
• Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and changes in condition.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and adjust individualized care plans.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and surgeries.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including wound care and pain management.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, discharge instructions, and self-care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards.
• Respond to emergencies and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.
