Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Travel RN for a Med-Surg/Step-Down assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. The role covers medical, surgical, and cardiovascular units with a flex pool structure and orientation provided. You must hold a HI RN license, have 2+ years of Med-Surg experience, and be able to float across units.

Shifts are 12 hours, days, 36 hours per week, with travel benefits, per diem, and comprehensive insurance options. Start date 02/09/2026 for 13 weeks.

Qualifications

• HI RN license required by assignment start date.
• Minimum of 2 years Med-Surg nursing experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Ability to float between adult med-surg, surgical acute, and cardiovascular units.
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Flex Pool role covering various medical, surgical, and cardiovascular units.
• Primary patient population includes adult med-surg and step-down patients across units with variable acuity.
• Potential to float between Medical, Laulima (Surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular units.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Medical 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights); Laulima 1:6; Cardiovascular 1:4.
