Job summary

Healthforce is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med Surg travel assignment in Carbondale, IL. This 13‑week night shift position begins 08/10/2026, with weekly pay between $1,727 and $1,788 and no guaranteed hours.

The unit emphasizes surgical care with medical overlap and supports a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio. You will provide direct nursing care, monitor patients, administer meds, document in the EMR, collaborate with the care team, and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state IL) and BLS certification required.
• Med Surg experience preferred; capable new grads considered for Med Surg track.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work nights in a fast-paced unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing care to adult Med Surg patients, with surgical focus and medical overlap.
• Monitor patient status, administer medications/treatments per orders, document changes in EMR.
• Collaborate with care team to maintain safe, patient-focused care and target 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratios on nights.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort through fall prevention, infection control, and timely escalation of concerns.
• Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and care plans.
