Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Modesto, CA. The nurse will work 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week, and join a supportive clinical team to deliver high-quality obstetric care.

Responsibilities include assessing maternal/fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with obstetric specialists to ensure safe labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care.

Qualifications

• One year's recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
• NRP Certification

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
• Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
• Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-based protocols
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
• Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
