Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a registered nurse for an Ambulatory Care/Operating Room assignment in California. The ideal candidate holds a CA RN license and at least one year of acute care experience, with proficiency in vital signs, medication administration, allergy testing, and immunizations, plus Epic EMR familiarity.

This 13-week, day-shift position runs 8:00 AM–5:00 PM on 5x8 schedules, requiring compliance with charting, scheduling, patient teaching, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum one year of acute care experience required.
• Minimum one year of experience in the specialty area within the past two years required for specialized units.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Skilled in vital signs, medication administration, and specimen collection.
• Experience with cardiac arrest response, AED use, and oxygen administration.
• Experience with patient assessment, health history intake, and medication reconciliation.
• Experience with telephone triage, scheduling, and patient teaching.
• Allergy testing and allergy shot administration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ambulatory Care unit performing allergy testing, allergy shots, and immunizations.
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• 13-week assignment length.
• Utilizes Epic charting system.
• Responsibilities include administering immunizations, TB skin testing, and allergy treatments.
• Performs chart preparation, pharmacy call handling, and appointment scheduling.
• Conducts follow-up phone calls and manages medication refill requests.
• Provides patient teaching and follows universal precautions.
• Compliance documents must be completed by the Wednesday prior to the start date.
• Required training modules must be completed prior to start date.
• RTO must be disclosed at time of consideration and finalized before interview, with no changes accepted afterward.
