Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing seeks a Travel Radiation Therapist for an 8-week assignment in Fairfax, VA. The role focuses on delivering targeted radiation therapy with accuracy under a physician-guided plan while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The position requires completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program, one year of recent experience, and a current BLS credential. ARRT certification is preferred. Comprehensive benefits and first-rate clinical support are provided.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
• One year of recent experience as a Radiation Therapist.
• Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC).

Responsibilities

• Position patients for treatment with accuracy, according to prescription to ensure effective treatment and minimize exposure to healthy tissue
• Administer prescribed doses of radiation to targeted body parts, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and safety protocols
• Perform regular equipment checks of radiation therapy equipment to ensure proper functionality and troubleshoot issues as needed
• Review prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification to confirm accuracy and compliance with the treatment plan
• Follow radiation protection principles to ensure safety for patients, self, and others
• Maintain records, reports, or files required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings, or patient's reaction
• Conduct treatment sessions independently, in accordance with long-term treatment plan and under the general direction of the patient's physician
• Enter data into computer and set controls to operate or adjust equipment or regulate dosage
• Observe and reassure patients during treatment and report unusual reactions to physicianPerforms other duties as assigned within the scope of Radiation Therapist practice

Technical/Motor Skills

• Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment

• Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
• Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
• Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
