Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care in PCU for general medical, cardiac, and oncology patients.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced hospital.
  • Administer medications, monitor vitals, and respond to emergencies.
  • Document care in Epic and ensure patient safety.

Job Summary

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse in a community hospital setting. This position involves providing specialized nursing care to a diverse patient population, including general medical, cardiac, and oncology patients. The role emphasizes compassionate care, clinical proficiency, and adaptability to a fast-paced hospital environment.

Job Details
  • Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, ACLS certification, at least 1 year of clinical experience, with a minimum of 2 years total experience preferred, including experience in Progressive Care Units or similar settings.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac patients, post-cath lab procedures, and oncology patient care.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required throughout the hospital.
  • Additional Information:
    • Must be comfortable with cardiac rhythm interpretation and titratable drips including diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, Lasix.
    • Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, TR band application, post-cath lab care, and central line maintenance.
    • Care for a variety of patient conditions including COVID, PNA, stroke, sepsis, renal and cardiac issues, and oncology diagnoses.
    • High volume of post-cath lab procedures including stent placements and initial patient assessments.
    • High Spanish-speaking population (30%) and high volume of underserved charity care patients.
    • EMR: Epic
    • Weekend rotation at least 2 times per month, Friday/Saturday nights; schedule may vary based on hospital needs.
    • No night shift or on‑call required.
    • Scrub color: Any color.
