Job summary

TotalMed is seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit RN for a travel assignment in Chicago, IL. This 13-week contract requires 36 hours per week, with 12-hour night shifts. The right candidate has 1–2 years of acute care experience and active BLS, PALS and NIH certifications.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, interpreting ECG/monitor readings, IV starts, dressings, and assisting physicians during procedures. Travel nursing benefits apply.

Qualifications

• BLS, PALS, NIH certifications required.
• 2 years of acute care experience preferred.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' vital signs and initiate corrective action when necessary.
• Follow continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings and report changes.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs (central venous and arterial).
• Monitor and adjust ventilators and other specialized equipment.
• Assist physician during examinations, treatments and procedures, including life-saving situations.
• Assist with insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, and endotracheal tubes.
