Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PICU RN for rotating 12-hour shifts with a mix of night and day coverage and care for critically ill pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a Level I Trauma Center and Teaching Facility
• 28-bed unit providing intensive and intermediate care for children ages 0–18 with medical and surgical needs
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 based on acuity, including both ICU and stepdown patients
• Care includes ventilatory support, cardiac monitoring, ECMO, CRRT, dialysis, and additional complex therapies
• Shift is 3x12s rotating, primarily nights (two months nights, one month days), with required weekend and potential holiday coverage
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Open to first-time travelers
• Returning employees must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before applying as a traveler
• All required time off must be submitted at time of application and is subject to approval based on unit needs
• Local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Modules must be completed pre-start and average 4 hours
• Staffing mix includes RNs, patient care techs, and unit secretaries with support from respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacists
• Holiday and emergency response participation may be required during hurricane season (June-November)
• Parking permit required with nominal fee for designated parking garage only

Requirements

• Current SC or Multi-state Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU experience required
• BLS and PALS certifications from American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred
• SSN and valid driver's license required for consideration
