Qualifications

Job Summary
The Physical Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with physical impairments to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life. Working in hospitals, clinics, or rehabilitation centers, they create personalized, evidence‑based treatment plans using exercise and manual therapy to help patients recover and become independent.
Essential Work Functions
- Evaluate patients’ physical conditions using standardized tests, clinical examinations, and patient history to identify functional limitations and treatment needs.
- Develop personalized rehabilitation programs based on assessment findings and patient goals.
- Implement physical therapy treatment plans using a variety of techniques to improve patient mobility and reduce pain.
- Operate specialized physical therapy equipment and modalities safely, ensuring proper maintenance and calibration.
- Assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document evaluations, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize treatment outcomes.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, body mechanics, injury prevention, and self‑management techniques.
- Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development to remain current with best practices.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continued patient progress in community or home‑based settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

- Physical abilities: Stay stationary, move about, lift equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.

- Technical/motor skills: Manipulate equipment, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures.
- Mental requirements: Handle frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work independently or under supervision, and manage irregular schedules.
- Sensory requirements: Visual acuity and effective communication.
