Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an acute care setting requiring 2+ years of experience and BLS certification.
Details
- Acute care setting within a combined PT, OT, and Speech unit
- Assignment may be inpatient or outpatient based on facility need
- Inpatient areas include general inpatient, rehabilitation, and sub-acute units
- Outpatient assignments may be at a freestanding ortho/sports medicine clinic or a clinic treating ortho, neuro, and pediatric patients including a lymphedema program
- Common diagnoses include spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, ortho, general medical/surgical, bariatrics, ICU, cardiac, and vented/long-term patients depending on unit
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
- Weekend rotation required (every Saturday or every Sunday)
- Holiday coverage required per permanent staff rotation
- 3-shift floor-specific orientation
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Physical Therapy experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- License required if applicable
- Active state or compact (NLC) license for the state of submission; pending licenses not accepted
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Must be comfortable working with complex patient populations including neuro, ortho, and rehab cases
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients across inpatient and/or outpatient settings depending on assignment
- Works alongside OT and Speech therapy staff; rehab aides, OTAs, and PTAs are not utilized on this unit
- Uniform consists of a provided polo with khaki or black pants
- 24/7 pharmacy access on site
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must not have been directly employed by any facility associated with this health system within the past year, though PRN work through outside firms is acceptable
- Some states may require candidates to live a minimum distance from the facility to qualify for travel rates
