Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist, Pediatric Respiratory Therapy, Northern VA. The Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care, patient transport, treatment evaluation, and patient education with minimal supervision. The role supports ventilatory management, pulmonary procedures, monitoring, airway care, and emergency respiratory interventions.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend and every other holiday, including Christmas and New Years.
• Required Qualifications: Current Virginia license; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) knowledge and skills.
• Additional Information:
  • 13-week assignment beginning 11/23/2026.
  • Provides invasive and non-invasive ventilation, oxygen and aerosol therapy, nebulizer treatments, suctioning, chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy care, and airway management.
  • Performs oximetry, capnography, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, 12-lead electrocardiograms, and basic arrhythmia recognition.
  • Assists with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, endotracheal tube placement and removal, and other respiratory care procedures.
  • Monitors mechanical ventilation equipment, completes equipment setup and self-testing, and supports equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Documents treatments and patient responses, communicates clinical information during shift handoffs, and collaborates with attending and pulmonary physicians.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) guidelines.
