Job summary

TotalMed Allied in Santa Maria, CA is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist for an immediate travel assignment. The role focuses on direct patient care across pediatric areas, with 12-hour shifts and a 36-hour workweek during a 13-week engagement.

A Peds-RRT must have NBRC-RRT, BLS and ACLS, with 1 year of acute care experience; PALS and NRP may be required. Duties include administering respiratory and cardiology therapies, documentation, equipment maintenance, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• One year of recent acute care experience as a respiratory therapist.
• Must hold NBRC-RRT credential and BLS; ACLS; PALS and NRP may be required.
• Peds-RRT specialization preferred or required in some areas.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in pediatric units per procedural guidelines.
• Administer respiratory and cardiology therapies as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Clean, calibrate, and maintain respiratory equipment; report malfunctions.
• Perform arterial puncture and sample analysis as required.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Respond to emergent situations requiring respiratory support.

We're looking for a Pediatric Registered Respiratory Therapist (Peds-RRT) for an immediate travel position opening in Santa Maria, CA. The right Peds-RRT must have 1 year of recent acute care experience. Read below for additional requirements.

As a Peds-RRT, you will provide direct patient care to patients in a variety of clinical areas, including evaluations and treatments according to procedural guidelines.

As a Peds-RRT, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:

• Administer to patients a variety of simple and complex respiratory and cardiology modalities.
• Maintains appropriate patient records/documentation.
• Cleans, disinfects, assembles, calibrates, maintains respiratory and cardiology equipment and accessories. Evaluates equipment for proper and safe function. Reports malfunctions to director.
• Performs arterial puncture and analyzes sample according to procedure guidelines.
• Interacts with co-workers, nurses, physicians, other hospital personnel to optimize continuum of care for patient being treated.
• Responds to emergent situations that could require Respiratory support.

Peds-RRTs should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty. Peds-RRTs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. Peds-RRTs must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must have 1 year of experience. Must have NBRC-RRT, BLS, and ACLS. PALS and NRP may be required in some areas.
