Job summary

Amergis is seeking a Progressive Care Unit RN to deliver nursing care for telemetry/PCU patients. Role involves clinical judgment, critical thinking, and adherence to nursing standards across a PCU/stepdown setting.

Requirements include an active RN license in the practicing state, CPR where applicable, and HIPAA compliance. Travel position with competitive weekly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current RN license for the state in which the nurse practices.
• One year of professional nursing experience preferred with one year PCU experience preferred.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
• Current CPR if applicable.
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
• Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
• Strong communication skills in the English language.
• Computer proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care on a progressive care unit.
• Performs focused interviews to identify specific patients' needs.
• Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
• Documents the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions.
• Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements.
• Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.
• Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment.
• Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education.
• Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventions.
• Documents patient's response to nursing and other interventions.
• Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities.
• Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
