Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Anesthesia Care Unit assignment in Illinois. The ideal candidate has PACU/critical care experience, an active IL RN license, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

The role requires at least one prior travel contract, Epic EMR experience, and successful completion of an on-site EKG test. Expect 36 hours weekly on 9-hour shifts with a 3 weeknights and 1 weekend 24-hour on-call schedule.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association preferred; Red Cross accepted for BLS).
• Minimum 3 years of solid acute care hospital experience.
• Critical care PACU experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
• At least one prior travel contract required.
• Epic EMR experience required and must be noted in employment history.
• Must pass an EKG test with a score of 80% or higher prior to consideration.
• 2 current references from a Supervisor, Manager, or Charge nurse in the relevant unit within the last year.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit of an acute care hospital.
• Day and Evening shift rotation with start times between 8am-11am, ending by 8:30pm.
• 36 hours per week on 9-hour shifts.
• No floating required.
• On-call requirement of 3 weeknights (8pm-7am) and one 24-hour weekend shift per 6-week schedule with 30-minute call back time.
• Holiday coverage per call rotation.
• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to surgical patients.
• On-site EKG test required on Day 1 of orientation; must pass to continue the assignment.
• 4 hours of non-billable orientation.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
• Returning permanent or per diem staff must be away for 12 months before being considered as a traveler.
• RTO for 13-week contracts limited to a maximum of 7 days.
• Candidates will undergo a brief interview (10-15 minutes) conducted by the hospital.
